Day 84 thru 100

So did I cheat!? I'm considering my #100dayproject done and let me explain why…

When I started all the paintings were 9x12 on paper and I painted a whopping 78 paintings like this! It was wonderful but after that many paintings at that particular size I wanted to expand. For example, I painted 25 ornaments but didn't "count" these in my 100 Day Project because they weren't specifically the 9x12 size I predetermined. If I'd counted the ornaments I would have reached 103 paintings by the end of 2019 but I hold myself to crazy standards and insisted (to myself) that I must keep going!! Since 2020 began I again had the yearning to expand (and I think it's best to listen to your inner creative voice) so I painted some lamps. This time I thought I'd ease up on myself and count them in the project. Since the end of 2019 I've been feeling like I  really wanted to paint BIG FLORALS so I finally went for it! These paintings took longer then one day so I have given myself some grace to allow each painting to equal more than 1 day for my #100dayproject. The truth is I've painted WAY MORE than 100 Days during this project and just because all my paintings haven't fit into the stringent parameters I gave myself when I started doesn't mean it hasn't been a success. Listening to my creative voice and bending the rules a bit might just be where I'm supposed to go... after all this is supposed to be a learning experience.

Here are some of the larger works that came out of my #100dayproject. These works have started my Big & Bold series which I super excited about. It’s really interesting to bring everything I learned while painting over 100 pieces of art that were flower related and see how I interpret that now on a big canvas. I’m loving the freedom to paint large!
