Maybe you’ve heard the term Shop Small before but never really put much thought into it. Well this holiday season your #1 way to boost those karma points is to shop small with a local artisan or craftsperson. Instead of just grabbing some stuff at the mall, Target or TJ Maxx find an artist and buy a handmade, one of a kind item! It may seem like a lot of work… you might be saying” “But I don’t have time to go to an arts and crafts fair and walk around for 3 hours and find some stuff to wrap up for Christmas!” OR “I can’t afford to buy my family art from an art gallery. Too fancy!” OR “I don’t live in a town where people sell their wares!” Well guess again, it’s just as easy as buying something from Target.com as most artists, makers and doers have ecommerce websites where buying something for a loved one, friend or colleague is just a click of a button away. So… not only is it easy but you’re also putting money into the pockets of small business owners, supporting the arts, promoting your local community and keeping taxes in the neighborhood (if you buy from a local maker) and getting a totally UNIQUE piece that no one else will be bringing to that gift exchange!!
So I challenge you to Shop Small this year if that means shopping at Etsy or finding an artisan who makes fun ornaments, jewelry dishes, paintings, aprons, mosaic frames or whatever the case may be and giving it a whirl!
Here’s some friend’s shop that I enjoy:
And if you’re interested in purchasing anything from me this year I did come up with 2 Collections (Call of the Wild & Call of the Sea) that will be going LIVE this Black Friday @ 8am (11/23/18) on my website. Some pieces are as affordable as $40 so check it out and give the gift of original hand made art!!
